Web Development

Aim:
To teach Web Development with an emphasis on DESIGN and HTML and its APPLICATION within professional environments and outputs.

Week:
One
Hello! Week One will be fairly relaxed... My priorities are:

1. To get all the administration and orientation out of the way.
2. To get to know you all, what your abilities are, what motivates you, what your ambitions are and to understand how the course can help you.
3. An introductory discussion forum talking about your current perspective of Web Development and the Internet. We will be talking about your favorite websites and what makes them so appealing, successful and user friendly. We will be looking closely into design, structure and construction.
Syllabus
The syllabus will be issued and discussed.
Student Information
Students will be issued 'Student Information' forms to complete. Do not worry students, I will not use the information to contact you or your parents if you are absent. It is just for emergencies.

* If you were absent from class please download and complete the PDF and email it to me (it is an interactive PDF you don't need to print it).
Please attach a 1x1 photo in the email (so many names... so many faces :)
Web Development Questionnaire
Students will be asked to complete a questionnaire which I will ask them questions about infront of the class. This will be helpful for:

The communication and sharing of information, research and inspirations between classmates
The assessment of students motivations and current technical, analytical and interview abilities.
Understanding how the course can be tailored to the benefit of each student.
Score Cards
Students will complete their score cards to avoid any last minute craziness when grades are issued at the end of term.
WWW discussion & critique forum / show and tell
An introductory discussion forum talking about current perspectives of Web Development and the Internet. We will be talking about favorite websites and what makes them so appealing, successful and user friendly. We will be looking closely into design, structure and construction.
Homework
Students will be required to prepare initial ideas and concepts for the style of their portfolio website. This could include: Logos, fonts, layouts, colour palettes, research (perhaps other sites they like and want to develop on for their own style) etc.
